23/52: A trip to the beach

This weeks portraits for Living arrows were taken during our first beach trip on the year. The weather was just right for a little paddle in the sea and to dig some holes in the sand.

Our adventures on the beach together hold many special memories. On saturday we ventured out to Whitsand bay in Cornwall to escape the crowds of the city. There is nothing like an empty beach, crystal blue seas and of course the happiness on my children's faces. There is a different side of the boys that suddenly appears when they first dig their toes into the sand. They begin to run as fast as they can and laugh as loud as they can, they are free and in their element.  The photos above are some of my all time favourite photos I have ever taken of the boys. I usually bug them by asking them to sit still, smile and to stare into the camera. They look uncomfortable and I decided to take a step back and snap away when they are having the most fun. I especially love the last two photos of Thomas taking a dip in a pool he came across. He sat there for ten minutes just splashing as hard as he could to make some waves.

  12. Great photos. I always think a beach makes it look like children have so much freedom there in the expanse of sea and beach #iotw
