Sunday 9th November, Remembrance parade and a trip to the beach.

I am from a military family and also spent eight years serving myself so remembrance day has always been important to me. I always donate to royal british legion and wear my poppy with pride. It is important to remember those who died for us to live in a free country. Our home town is set around a navy base so the town always lays on a large service of remembrance. Today they had a parade made up of local clubs such as the beavers, guides and scouts, the Navy, civi leaders and the Royal british legion bikers.

The service was outside our local church. Here they held the minute silence and laid poppies on the wall memorial. Lovely words were spoken about the sacrifice our soldiers made for us while the band played music in the background.

After the service, we decided to head down to the beach. It was such a beautiful warm day that it allowed us to sit for a few hours and relax. The boys dug holes and collected shells while I practised taking photos on my new camera.

This was one of the most beautiful and perfect days of the autumn and I loved every minute of it. I am so grateful to live where I am and so proud of my town for coming out today to support our military.

  1. This looks like a great day, it's great that you went to your local remembrance parade, we had a poor turn out at ours. It looks like the boys are having loads of fun on the beach as well. Lovely photos. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids

  2. It was lovely. Shame that you had a poor turn out. We have a military base in our town so thats probably why it was so busy.

  3. Awww such a nice day! Perfect day even for the Remembrance Day. My grandfather is a war veteran. He fought with the American Army against the Japanese in my country so when I arrived here I am so happy that you have this event to remember the fallen. #countrykids

  4. I love visiting the beach in Autumn and Winter, away from the crowds of tourists and the chaos of the Summer. They certainly look like they're having great fun.

    Nipping over from Country Kids.
